Mercedes is a Registered Nurse with board certifications in emergency nursing, pediatric emergency nursing, and ambulatory nursing. She has received multiple achievement recognitions, including the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses because of the care she gave to a terminally ill patient and their family before the patient’s death. She has also received HCA’s “Change the World” award and was featured in the HCA Touch magazine while working as a telephone triage nurse. 

Mercedes spent the first several years of her nursing career working in the corrections system. During this time she developed the art of educating people from all walks of life about their health. From there she found her passion as an emergency nurse, becoming a true leader in the ER and assisting in developing her hospital’s trauma program and teaching the Trauma Nursing Core Course.

Mercedes worked many years as a full-time leader in the ER, both as a charge nurse and as a preceptor, and in the hospital as a hospital-wide nursing supervisor. She recognizes the importance of remaining current on best practices and medical research and therefore attends pertinent medical conferences that relate to her current practice. Mercedes widened her care to reach more patients by working as a telephone triage nurse and currently as a nursing case manager. From her years of experience, she has the knowledge and insight needed to provide invaluable care to a broad scope of patients.  
 

Mercedes’ interest in the world of Aesthetics was first ignited by her mother who is an Aesthetician. She has a natural skill with needles that she has fine-tuned into an art over the years. She now uses her talent to bring smiles and confidence to the faces of her clients. Mercedes values the importance of keeping pace with the leaders of the non-surgical Aesthetic industry to have up-to-date knowledge and techniques to leave you beyond satisfied.

Dr. Pickens was born and raised in Murray, Kentucky. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville College of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery and urologic training at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. He then completed a two-year urologic fellowship in Endourology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
